How to get there?
The TREK Antwerp Marathon takes place in the centre of Antwerp. Start and finish are situated on the Eilandje. The Eilandje is easily accessible by bike or public transport. There are no parking spaces in the vicinity of the start and finish areas. If you do come by car, use one of the Park & Ride car parks around the city. By far the easiest way of getting to Eilandje is on foot or by bike. Participants and spectators of the TREK Antwerp Marathon can benefit from a one-off 20% discount on
Donkey Republic
share bikes using code ‘ANTWERPMARATHON’. You can also use Velo bikes or share scooters to get to the start and finish.
There is temporary bike storage close to the start and finish where you can park your bikes and scooters.
Travel to the start and finish areas by public transport in comfort and without a care.
TRAIN
Plan your train journey to Antwerp Central station using the NMBS Routeplanner. Did you know that travel on Sundays is 30% cheaper with a Weekend Ticket. Plus, you can bring up to 4 children under 12 for free.
Upon arrival at Antwerp Central station, take tram 1 in the direction of P&R Luchtbal at tram stop Halte Rooseveltplaats. Alight at the tram stop that is in use and closest to Noorderplaats, which is at walking distance from the start and finish areas.
BUS & TRAM
Board or alight at the stop that is closest for you:
- Antwerp Central station, P&R Linkeroever, Zone Vogelzanglaan/G. Le Grellelaan or centre of Antwerp? à Use stop Antwerp Noorderplaats.
- P&R Luchtbal or P&R Merksem? à Use stop Antwerp Cadix
Several buses and trams serve these stops and connect the suburbs and boroughs with the city. So, you can use either the bus or the tram! Consult the De Lijn routeplanner to discover the quickest route for you.
PLEASE NOTE
Some bus and tram lines will be affected by the course. More specifically, they are the lines that cross the maraton course. Please use the De Lijn routeplanner for real-time travel updates.
If you have no other option than coming by car, please remember that many streets and car parks in the centre of Antwerp will be inaccessible or hard to get to during the race.
PARK AND RIDE
Use the Park & Rides around the city. Reserve your spot beforehand and arrive on time. Some Park & Ride car parks may be full due to the high number of participants/visitors.

It is recommended to navigate with Waze or Google Maps to the car park or use the City of Antwerp’s parking guidance system.
The TREK Antwerp Marathon will take place in Antwerp again in 2025. On Sunday 19 October, about 25,000 sports fans will run through the streets of Antwerp. This will have an impact on the accessibility of the port.
To ensure that the 10 km, marathon and half marathon can take place safely, the route will be closed to traffic between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Some roads will be closed and parking will be banned along the entire route.
The map below shows an overview of the port area where disruption can be expected and what the options are.
On Sunday 19 October between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m., the following rules apply:
- Zwarteweg: Remains accessible but becomes a dead end at the eastern intersection with Kastelweg. Approach from Scheldelaan is possible.
- Kastelweg: Afgesloten vanaf westelijk kruispunt met de Zwarteweg. Aanrijden kan via de Scheldelaan.
- Noordkasteelbruggen: Closed to motorised traffic, ships can continue to pass at all times.
- Boerinnenstraat: Not accessible.
- Droogdokkenweg: Closed from the intersection with Oosterweelsteenweg.
Leaving the port area is only possible via the Frans Tijsmanstunnel or Liefkenshoektunnel.
