The fourth edition of the Antwerp Marathon will take place on Sunday 20 October. People can register for this fast and fun autumn marathon through the city from 2pm on Thursday. You can opt for a full or half marathon.

The Antwerp Marathon starts on the Eilandje and, with a finish at the MAS, has one of the most beautiful finish locations imaginable for a running event. In 2023, the Antwerp Marathon celebrated a record edition with 12,800 participants. This year, organiser Golazo expects to see 15,000 runners at the start. That other big Antwerp running event – the Baloise Antwerp 10 Miles on Sunday 21 April – is fully booked more than a month in advance. So don’t wait too long before registering if you don’t want to miss the Antwerp Marathon.

“We are opening the registration for the Antwerp Marathon a little earlier than planned,” says Greg Broekmans of Golazo. “We have already received a lot of enquiries about both the full and half marathon in recent weeks. Those running the 10 Miles are also looking for a goal in autumn. And those who cannot be there on 21 April are extra motivated to be at the start line on 20 October. The other big city marathons in Europe are also filling up fast. Everything therefore points to a record edition of the Antwerp Marathon.”

“After the rush on registrations for the 10 Miles, I think it would be advisable to get that starting ticket for the ever-growing Antwerp Marathon,” says Antwerp Councillor for Sport Peter Wouters. “Then begins the long (training) road to 20 October, the day when you can appear at the start of the half or full marathon and prove yourself. For this fourth edition too, we as a city are not cutting corners. As usual, we will offer up our city assets and vocal chords so that the thousands of runners can enjoy themselves in between the suffering.”

The marathon and half marathon courses are currently being updated to make them even more attractive and will be announced later.
